Allergies and Waterbeds
Create an allergy friendly sleeping environment with a waterbed.
Get Rid of Dust Mites
Dust mites thrive in a moist environment with high humidity. A person loses up to ½ litre of moisture every night, which is absorbed by a traditional mattress, and only a little of this moisture evaporates. This is the reason why a traditional mattress gets heavier year after year. This moisture build-up is not possible in a waterbed since the moisture cannot be absorbed by the water mattress, and the moisture absorbed by the bed sheets quickly evaporates due to the warmth of the waterbed.
Another advantage of the waterbed is the high level of hygiene. The surface of the water mattress can be wiped off, and the top cover is easily unzipped and washed in the washing machine at 60° C. This keeps your bed free from allergens and removes hair and skin particles, which are a primary source of nourishment for dust mites.
The low humidity and the high level of hygiene make the waterbed very suitable for people who suffer from allergies.
